Session Abstract:

Microsoft SQL Server's wide deployment through the enterprise has made it a frequent target of consolidation projects onto VI3. But its mission-critical role in resource-intensive environments has resulted in strict performance requirements. VMware has conducted intensive research on SQL Server performance and in this presentation will show the findings of this investigation and the results of performance experiments designed to test SQL Server in the most strenuous of environments. Attendees will learn the specifics of configuring SQL Server on VI3 and will see the performance impact of a variety of configuration options. Recommendations for tuning and optimizing SQL Server performance will be presented as well as guidance for setting up proof-of-concept experiments and troubleshooting problems.
