Session Abstract:

VMware ESX is the industry-leading virtualization platform for running the most demanding Enterprise Applications in the Datacenter. At VMware, we are constantly adding new features to improve the performance and scalability of our virtualization layer. Future ESX releases will include enhancements to the storage software layer, networking, and the CPU scheduler, as well as support for new processors.
In this talk, we will preview some of these new features and how they improve the performance of various Enterprise Applications, including Databases, ERP, Mail servers, and web servers. We will show performance data for these applications in large configurations on Windows and Linux virtual machines using industry-standard workloads.
Specific applications covered in this session include
- OLTP Brokerage workload on SQLserver 2008
- Industry standard OLTP workload on Oracle 11g
- SAP-SD benchmark with SAP on SQLserver 2005
- Loadgen with Exchange 2007
- SPECWeb with Apache.
