Session Title: | How VMware uses Site Recovery Manager for its own Disaster Recovery |
Session Abstract: | In March 2009, VMware IT kicked off a project to design and deploy a disaster recovery solution for its Microsoft Exchange 2007 environment using VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3, VMware Site Recovery Manager, EMC Recover Point, and EMC Replication Manager. Prior to this project, VMware relied on Exchange Cluster Continuous Replication for site resiliency between two data centers in the San Francisco Bay Area. With the opening of a tier 2 data center in eastern Washington state for disaster recovery, a robust replication solution needed to be implemented that would facilitate disaster recovery using VMware Site Recover Manager, provide support for heterogeneous storage platforms, and provide a solution to the backup and restore difficulties of VMware's Exchange data. |
