Session Title: | Case Study: Making the Grade with VDI and K12 Education |
Session Abstract: | Westerly Public Schools will present a case study on their implementation of a VDI architecture for the K12 education environment. Westerly's VDI implementation addresses many of the IT challenges the school district is facing; for example, in the district's older, under-powered, un-renovated high schools, constructing a traditional PC lab wouldn't have been an option because of power and space limitations. Instead, the use of Panologic's small form factor, zero-client device delivers a complete VDI desktop replacement solution for many students and staff while meeting these special environmental requirements. In this session, the director of technology for Westerly will explain why he feels VDI is the right alternative at the right time to replace the traditional PC for K12 and higher education environments. He will share his experiences around his efforts to "get K12 out of the desktop business," including coverage of the compelling ROI factors and lower TCO in the business case used to justify the VDI implementation. |
